For a class 3 coating, less than 5% red rust should be observed on the screw specimen placed in a salt-spray chamber for a minimum of 1,000 hours. This anti-corrosion performance is equivalent to an actual outdoor environment with medium corrosivity such as a food processing plant or a tropical zone coastal area. A carbon steel fasteners with this coating should last 8 to 10 years without rust when installed under this environment.
